Carter Rehabilitation Centers have been providing rehabilitative services in Lenawee County for over
twenty years, with locations in Adrian and Tecumseh Michigan. Our facilities provide a diversity of services
including Physical and Occupational therapy, along with Aquatic therapy. Each facility maintains an on-site therapeutic pool kept at approximately ninety-two degrees. One of the major benefits of aquatic therapy is the
buoyancy of the water, which creates minimal stress on joints and muscles. The high water temperature allows the
body to relax. This combination leads to increased range of motion and functional mobility as well as decreased
pain and swelling. The ultimate goal of performing modalities and procedures, whether with a land based or
water based treatment program, is to assist a patient with gaining strength, balance, coordination, endurance,
and independence with daily activities.

As a service to our patients that have met their rehabilitation potential, but require assistance to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, Carter offers a couple of programs as an option. The Community Fitness Program has been very successful in keeping our previous patients and general public active and independent at affordable prices.

Another option Carter offers to the community and previous patient’s is the Aquatic Wellness Program. When our on-site therapeutic pool is not accommodating therapy patients, we are able to offer several affordable aquatic exercise classes per week. Our Aquatic Wellness Director oversees an exercise program that meets the needs of individual clients. Through this program, previous patients are able to maintain the strength and range of motion they gained during their therapy sessions. Members of the general public may enroll in the Aquatic Wellness Program with approval from their physician. This program has been very beneficial in keeping clients active when they suffer with diseases such as Arthritis or Fibromyalgia. It is clearly understood by our Community Fitness and Aquatic Wellness clients that these services are for the benefit of the community and will not be billed to or reimbursed by insurance or any other third party payer.

As education is a key factor of patient care, Carter Rehab holds
monthly meetings on the topics of Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.
We feel that education can empower people with these disorders.
We research and share information at the monthly meetings,
ranging from pain management to preventative measures
and coping with everyday activities. These meetings are open
to the general public and usually scheduled for the last Monday
of each month, alternating between our two locations.

Each year Carter Rehab Centers host the
“Kelly Carter Scholarship Run,”
with proceeds going toward our Scholarship fund.
This program invites students planning to pursue a career in a
medical field to apply for a one thousand dollar scholarship.
The success of the run has allowed Carter Rehab to award three
scholarships per year over the past decade.
